*Any submissions that do not follow every instruction within these guidelines will be disregarded. I will not look at the work if you don't adhere to simple rules.*
Write Me a Metaphor is open for submissions year-round. We are looking for original, previously unpublished (work published on personal blogs is acceptable) poetry and prose of any form or style. Originality and a distinctive voice is strongly admired and encouraged.
Please submit either 3-5 poems or 1-3 prose pieces in the body of a single email message to firstname.lastname@example.org. The subject line should read "Submission" followed by either 'poetry' or 'prose'. Each prose should be no more than 2,000 words. If any special formatting is required, add a note at the end of the email saying so, and we will contact you. Please do not submit more than once for each issue.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, provided they are identified as such and we are informed immediately should they gain acceptance elsewhere.
No cover letters, but please include a short bio. It should be no more than 60 words.
Response time is normally two to six weeks. Please only query if you do not receive a response by the end of that period.
If your work is accepted, Write Me a Metaphor acquires first one-time publication rights, right to archive and right to publish in an anthology should the need arise. Copyright is retained by the author.
